Stereotaxis’ Training Program is designed to equip physicians and their staffs with the skills necessary to maximize clinical value of the system. The ultimate goal is for precise, image-guided remote controlled interventional devices to become the standard of care for navigation in all cardiac interventional procedures.

Our training program has two primary purposes: The first is to ensure that each user of the Stereotaxis Magnetic Navigation System clearly understands how to use the equipment safely, efficiently and effectively. The second is to ensure users derive maximum clinical value from their investment in Stereotaxis.

The training program consists of:

  • Pre-installation training. Stereotaxis meets with physicians, staff and hospital administrators in advance to establish clear expectations, determine the resources needed to meet the expectations, and obtain a commitment from physicians and staff to participate in individual training activities.
  • Staff training. Prior to the first clinical use of the system, all medical staff complete a comprehensive training process. After initial clinical experience, Stereotaxis conducts “superuser” training for individual staff members to become experts in the use of the system at their site.
  • Physician qualification. Stereotaxis’ physician specific qualification program is designed to ensure proper training in the use of its products. This qualification requires two full days of training, one of these at our St Louis training center, as well as case-based guidance from Stereotaxis clinical account support. Finally, an experienced physician proctor is made available to visit newly-installed cardiac labs to assist physicians during early use of the system.

Specifically, the physician qualification program includes the following:

Preparation: A web-based, interactive training program enables self-education for physicians on the basic use of the system. This is supplemented with hands-on applications training using simulated heart and vascular models.

System training (St Louis): Stereotaxis provides for and requests that each physician attend a day-long intensive training session in St. Louis.

Clinical experience: Knowledge of the system is best retained by completing a broad range of cases. To become efficient the physician typically performs a sequence of daily cases, expanding to multiple cases weekly and finally multiple cases daily. All of these early cases are supported on site by Stereotaxis clinical account managers.

On-site physician proctoring: As early experience develops, each installation is supported through visiting physician proctors who have extensive experience using the Stereotaxis system.

Off-site advanced training: After physicians have gained significant experience and can perform successful cases independently, Stereotaxis offers them the opportunity to attend an advanced physician training course at one of its global training centers.
