Dr. Hetal Bhakta

Desert Regional Medical Center

Robotic ablation is a much more stable procedure, which results in better lesion delivery and safety profile.

Improving utilization of the newest technology available for EP procedures, Dr. Hetal Bhakta takes great pride in all collaborative efforts with Stereotaxis east of Los Angeles to the Arizona border. This joint effort began years ago with the aim to improve patient safety and deliver better outcomes. Dr. Bhakta specializes in EP because “it provides definitive therapy where you can cure, and you don’t get to do that very often in medicine,” he says, adding, “It’s also nice to be in a field where you can grow with it.”

Dr. Bhakta has led the EP lab at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, CA since creating the program in 2013 and becoming the first medical center in the region to offer Stereotaxis technology. Comparing traditional pull-wire ablation to robotic, he says, “is like trying to paint a canvas on a small fishing boat in the middle of the ocean, compared with painting that same canvas on a steady cruise ship. Robotic ablation is a much more stable procedure, which results in better lesion delivery and safety profile.”

Congrats to Dr. Bhakta and his team for building an oasis in the desert for arrhythmia patients!
